Hyundai Launches Hyundai Pay to Enable In-Vehicle Payment

Hyundai Motor America has introduced Hyundai Pay, a system that allows customers to make payments through their vehicle’s touchscreen, leveraging securely stored credit card information.

In partnership with Parkopedia, Hyundai Pay’s first service focuses on parking payments, enabling US drivers to find, reserve as well as pay for parking at 6,000 locations from within their vehicle.

Initially available in the 2024 Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Pay will expand to nine other Hyundai models in the future. This initiative aligns with Hyundai’s commitment to enhance digital ownership experiences and simplify the driving experience.

The Hyundai Pay system facilitates payments for parking and other services through the vehicle’s touchscreen and Bluelink connected car system. It also aims to provide convenience, enhance the driving experience, and keep payments secure using tokenisation to protect card account details.

Through integration with Parkopedia’s Payment Platform, Hyundai addresses the challenges many drivers face when searching for parking. Parkopedia’s 2023 Global Driver Survey revealed that 94 per cent of US drivers encounter difficulties finding parking.

Hans Puvogel, chief operating officer at Parkopedia, noted that US Hyundai drivers have shown significant interest in accessing parking information and services through their vehicles.

“We are proud to be the first in-car commerce service to launch on the future-proof Hyundai Pay platform, which shows significant faith in the auto-grade quality of our services from one of the leading automakers. We look forward to additional models and vehicle services going live in the future.”

Hyundai Pay is accessible through Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car services app, providing a connected service for drivers at home as well as on-the-go. It enables drivers to view, book and retrieve past parking sessions, addressing the stress associated with parking searches.

“Hyundai Pay is the latest example of our continuous advancements in smart mobility and software-defined vehicles,” said Olabisi Boyle, vice president, product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America. “With Hyundai Pay’s scalable e-commerce platform, we can elevate customer convenience and extend their digital reach by making every day needs—like finding and paying for parking—easier, swifter and safer via our connected-car, integrated-cockpit and secure-transaction technology.”

It is currently available on select Hyundai models and also requires the MyHyundai mobile app and an active Bluelink subscription agreement,.
