African paytech company Flutterwave has enhanced its ‘$end Mobile’ product, now ‘Send App by Flutterwave’, to support transfers from the US and Canada. The app has also added Egypt and Senegal as the newest recipient countries in its network.
Send by Flutterwave initially launched in 2021, with a mission to provide a fast, transparent and secure way for the African diaspora to send money to friends and family in Africa.
Expanding the product’s remittance capabilities and its subsequent rebranding comes as remittances to Africa have doubled in the last decade. Overall, the space reached an estimated $100billion in 2022, the United Nations revealed. These remittances support medical bills, school fees, and living costs for an estimated 200 million relatives in Africa.
Flutterwave’s Send app is currently available on Play Store and App Store and aims to enhance customer experience. Other key features of the app include real-time support and exchange rate update, an improved activity section that tracks transactions in real-time, and a new voucher code section that enables users to get discounts on transactions. Existing users can update their apps to access the new look and capabilities.
