Behind the Idea: Confide | The Fintech Times

Behind every headline-grabbing exposé lies a crucial lesson: the importance of preemptive action to address internal issues before they spiral into external crises.

Founded by Pav Gill, the whistleblower behind the Wirecard scandal, Confide empowers organisations to preemptively address internal issues before they escalate to external leaks.

In this week’s Behind the Idea, we chat to Gill to learn how Confide evolved from addressing the lessons learned from the Wirecard scandal into a holistic platform for governance, risk management, and integrity assurance.

Tell us more about your company and its offering

Confide is a governance, risk, and integrity solutions platform, crafted from the lessons learned during my exposure of the Wirecard scandal. Our platform is designed to empower companies, from SMEs to large enterprises, to proactively cultivate a culture of integrity and transparency. By leveraging advanced technology, Confide enables organisations to efficiently detect and manage internal misconduct, enhancing their compliance and reducing the risk of external exposure.

What problem was your company set up to solve?

Confide was born out of a necessity to bridge the gap in corporate governance and risk management. We recognised the need for a tool that not only encourages internal whistleblowing but also ensures that such reports are managed effectively and ethically. Our goal is to decrease the likelihood of scandals by fostering a secure and transparent environment within organisations, where issues are addressed internally before they escalate.

Since launch, how has your company evolved?

Since our launch, Confide has evolved from initially being conceived as a whistleblowing solution to a comprehensive governance, risk, and integrity platform. We are looking to expand our offerings to include compelling training modules and more sophisticated risk management tools, ensuring a holistic and engaging approach to corporate integrity. Our focus has shifted from not just detecting issues but also preventing them, thereby transforming organisational culture.

What has been the biggest challenge or most ‘tricky moment’ to overcome?

The biggest challenge for Confide was breaking the traditional view of whistleblowing and governance tools as mere compliance requirements. Changing this perception to see these tools as integral to a company’s health and success was tricky but critical. Our approach has always been to showcase the value addition in terms of culture and long-term sustainability.

What are your biggest achievements or ‘proudest moment’ so far?

Our proudest moment was when we signed our first enterprise customer before launching officially. This was a significant validation of our vision and approach. It was a moment of recognition that companies are ready to embrace a proactive stance towards governance and integrity, trusting Confide to lead them in this new direction.

How would you describe the culture of your company?

The culture at Confide is driven by transparency, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of integrity. We foster an environment where ideas are valued, ethical behaviour is the norm, and continuous improvement is embedded in our DNA.

What’s in store for the future?

Looking ahead, we are excited about expanding our global footprint and enhancing our platform with cutting-edge technology. Our roadmap includes AI-driven analytics for risk assessment, deeper integration with corporate systems, and expanding with very unique training modules. We are committed to being at the forefront of redefining governance, integrity and risk management in the digital age.
